Why do we need a Carbon Inventory?
● In July 2021, the EU announced the "Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism" (CBAM) to address the issue of "carbon leakage" resulting from the relocation of high-carbon-emitting industries overseas or the significant import of products from abroad that haven't accounted for the cost of carbon pollution.
● From 2023 to 2025, manufacturers are expected to request carbon emission data for goods and proof of carbon price payment from the exporting country.
● The official implementation period is set for 2026 (currently limited to direct emission pricing)
● In June 2022, the U.S. Senate proposed the draft of the U.S. carbon tariff, known as the "Clean Competition Act" (CCA), with the second reading recently completed.If the third reading is passed, the United States will begin to impose a carbon tax in 2024.
